Thessaloniki - Kozani - Halkidiki 28 October - 4 November 2019

  • 28 OCT DAY 1

  • All parties arrive in Thessaloniki. Suitable airport, Macedonia Airport, transportation to Hotel available. A private shuttle will be available at 1pm and 4pm at the airport, taxi fee will be reimbursed if arriving at different times.

  • Check in to Viraggas traditional hotel in Halkidiki

  • Get to know the Hotel and surrounding area, a short walk in the village 

  • Welcome dinner at Viraggas restaurant prepared by hotel’s owner Vassilis with traditional dishes and local wines.

  • Live demonstration: participate in making our ancient Greek dessert Loukoumades.

  • Detailed information will be provided about the tour and there will be time for Q&A.

  • 29 OCT DAY 2

  • Breakfast at hotel

  • Visit: the traditional village of Taxiarchi. Walk to Agios Panteleimonas, a chapel through the forest, and then visit the famous for their meat skewers, Agios Prodromos. We suggest you bring appropriate shoes for hiking.

  • Lunch at Sakis Souvlaki taverna 

  • Visit: the Byzantine Tower of Galatista and the Monastery of Agia Anastasia

  • Culinary class: Learn how to make air-phyllo dough for bougatsa by a pastry master chef Phillipos Bantis in Thessaloniki

  • Visit Thessaloniki: Take a walk in the world renowned food area of Ladadika. Incredible street food and drinks!!!

  • 30 OCT DAY 3

  • Breakfast at hotel

  • Visit a nearby olive grove to pick green olives and visit an olive press to watch the making of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

  • Culinary class: 

  • Menu: Cook traditional dishes with Chef Tony and Vasilis.

  • Vasilis will provide the gastronomic history of his desserts and take us through his Grapa distillery

  • Followed by lunch and afternoon rest

  • Participate in the making of traditional pie and salads for dinner.

  • 31 OCT DAY 4

  • Breakfast at hotel

  • Check in at Kokkino Spiti Boutique Hotel, Veroia

  • Visit: vineyard in Naousa, Ktima Alpha for wine tasting 

  • Visit: Byzantine Museum of Veroia

  • Lunch at Flamouries restaurant 

  • Evening walk in the town of Veroia, socializing and drinks 

  •  

  • 1 NOV DAY 5

  • Breakfast at hotel, introduction to our local celebrity chef Nana Gampoura

  • Visit: Kroko kozanis and learn everything about the greatest Saffron in the world

  • Visit: lake Polifitou for fresh water crayfish and go out sailing with the fishing vessels

  • Culinary Class: Traditional cooking using saffron, crayfish and other local products by chef Nana, at her own restaurant Kouzina Tis Mamas Annas

  • Followed by lunch

  • Return to hotel

  • Evening cheese and wine social night at Kokkino Spiti.

  • 2 NOV DAY 6

  • Breakfast at hotel

  • Visit: Edessas Waterfalls

  • Walk through the streets of Edessa and taste some of their famous desserts 

  • Check in at Pozar Pallas Hotel

  • Unique experience at Pozar Salt Cave and relaxing massage, spa and hydrotherapy 

  • Light dinner and drinks at Pozar hotel 

  •  

  • 3 NOV DAY 7

  • Breakfast at hotel

  • Return to Thessaloniki

  • Check in Mediterranean Hotel 

  • Free time for personal shopping

  • Afternoon Visit: Ano Poli with the best sunset view over Thermaikos Gulf

  • Farewell dinner at Greece’s best meze restaurant Me-Zen by famous chef Gregory Helmis
